"Man of light" — a name of evangelical grace, cosmic heroism, and timeless brightness

Luke is the English form of the Latin Lucas, from the Greek Loukas — associated with lux, meaning 'light'. Saint Luke the Evangelist wrote the third Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles; he is the patron saint of artists and physicians. George Lucas named his hero Luke Skywalker — 'sky walker', a man who brings light to the galaxy.
